Light repair, electrical cord

Hello,

The electrical cord and plug to the light on our 90-C need to be replaced and will be visible when plugged in. We would like it to look as authentic as possible.

Does anyone know of a supplier of cloth covered electrical cord and plug that would be appropriate?

In restoring our Cape Cod, I've bought a number of items from Van D-y-k-e's Restorers (leave out the hyphens, I had to include them to get it by the hostboard censors) including some cloth covered wire for an old lamp. Seems like it was kinda pricey for wire, about 2 bucks a foot, but you won't need much. They have the period plugs, too. They had it in several colors. You can find it elsewhere, too, just google "cloth covered wire" or maybe "rayon covered wire".

Hello, Jack, and thanks for the new lead. In my prior google search, I only found cloth-covered wire that was twisted, so thanks for sharing your experience and expertise.

Checking their website, Van D-y-k-e-s has it in stock and I'll order soon. Thanks for helping me find it.

The cord you are looking for is known as "RAYON COVERED LAMP CORD", if you google that, you'll find many, many sources. Usually, you can purchase the cording at a good lamp repair shop in gold, brown, black and white. Pricing ranges anywhere from 75 cents to $3.00 a foot depending on how greedy the seller is. Bakelite plugs are available from the same sources as well as original style Edison lamps in wattages ranging from 25 to 100.
